About Us

Meetings – NOTE NEW LOCATION

Regular meetings are held in Port Ewen, NY, on the second Tuesday of the month. We have organize study groups, field trips, exhibits, demonstrations, group projects/challenges, and weekend workshops.

We will be meeting at the Reformed Church of Port Ewen, located at 160 Salem Street in Port Ewen. Parking is directly behind the church, off Hasbrouck Avenue. Masks may be required, as appropriate.

Anatomy of a Meeting

Our monthly meetings usually consist of the following sections:

1.Business meeting – A brief section including: minutes approval, financial report, guild activities, community events, etc.

2. Individual presentation by one or two members – These can be anything weaving/fiber related such as book reports, description of a fiber related trip, a weaver profile, a class you’ve taken, a new idea, a museum exhibit, etc. A signup sheet for these presentations is passed around every few months. You do not need to know precisely what you will present when you sign up. The President always checks in a few weeks before the presentation as a reminder and as an opportunity to reschedule to another month if needed.

3. Show and Tell – In many respects this is the heart of our meetings. We love to see anything and everything that you work on, from the most beginning weavers to more advanced ones, both successful projects and “learning pieces”. We each weave in wonderfully unique ways and through sharing with each other we get new ideas and learn new concepts to explore. If our meeting has been scheduled on Zoom, it’s best to send photos to the president before the meeting to present the items more clearly.

4. Introductions– when new members are present, we often introduce ourselves around the table.

There are other regularly scheduled events that occur less frequently such as:

Weftover Sale – once or twice a year we have an opportunity to clear our stash and benefit the Guild. On the announced day, all who wish bring yarn, tools, books, etc that become a contribution to the Guild. Other members who think your discard could be their priceless treasure have the opportunity to put in a silent bid for the item or lot. The highest bid wins, and all proceeds go to Woodstock Weavers.. It is always a fun time.
